Because our video game services will be releasing soon, proper, we need to decide on the locations of where to invest in our first high performance game servers for this very purpose and determine if only a single location or even two is worthwhile. So please, cast your vote below and let us know if we are to start off with a single location in only either Kansas, United States, or London, United Kingdom. If we receive a fair amount of votes for both locations, then we’ll get servers for each!
Where should we invest in a gaming server?
Kansas, United States (73%, 11 Votes)
London, United Kingdom (13%, 2 Votes)
Both locations interest me (and my friends)! (13%, 2 Votes)
Gaming servers do not interest me (0%, 0 Votes)
Total Voters: 15
We cannot stress enough how important this vote of yours is to us as you’re literally deciding the future of GekkoFyre Networks by casting your wish here. That said though, we do want this to be an eloquently fun thing to do, as we desire to be as transparent as possible when interacting with both current and future clients! It is you who make our existence possible.
With GekkoFyre Networks being a web-host in need of security solutions and thusly a intrusion detection/prevention system (IDS/IPS), we are proud to say that we are users of Imunify360 and BitNinja. Which one we use at any time depends on the exact requirements of the server in question and whether a particular control panel is in use or not. The former solution though integrates in an excellent manner with CloudLinux as it is by the same development team, along with KernelCare. Both products are exceedingly simple to install, setup, and configure with minimal knowledge on Linux system administration being required. The value of each product offered in terms of pricing is also quite good compared to a few other enterprise security solutions out there, giving a low barrier to entry and thus empowering small business owners such as ourselves with top-quality solutions.
One thing that stands out about Imunify360 in particular is its outstanding integration with cPanel/WHM. Apparently the CloudLinux team have a very close partnership with the cPanel company so this could be the reason as to such sterling compatibility. That said, going forward with such a control panel and security solution combination should mean that you’ll encounter no problems, or at least, only on most rare occasions.
BitNinja is excellent at holding its own for being an independent solution that doesn’t require the installation of any particular control panels; you simply run a single command line instruction and off you go! You’re already setup and managing security-minded actions from the easy-to-use control panel via their official website.
You should notice right away with both IDS/IPS solutions that they will start blocking a great deal of malicious traffic ‘straight out of the box’. This is the sad reality of today’s Internet and system administrators around the globe have to be persistently on guard, ready to defend their clienteles websites and infrastructure.
If you have any further questions about our use of these two products then you only have to get in contact with GekkoFyre Networks. We’ll be more than happy to answer any questions!

If you require migration assistance from a pre-existing email account over to our servers and henceforth a Zimbra account, please get in touch with our support department firstly before making any related account purchases. We need to work out with you what is and what might not be feasible in terms of a migration, as dependent on the type of service you are migrating away from. That said, we do offer a 28-day money back guarantee with no questions asked and this definitely applies to our Zimbra Hosted Email accounts.
Regarding other feature updates around our company, we are now offering the ability to freely upgrade your service plans if you are making use of a product or service that comes with customizable options, such as our VPS (virtual private server) lineup.
Lastly, we now have an official newsletter you may signup towards without having to be a pre-existing client! You will receive all the latest updates without having to check this blog manually and we will be sure to only send out messages intermittently. We all know what it’s like to deal with spam! Plus it’s part of our core mission policy to fight spam where possible.
The form can be found within the navigation bar on this blog to the top-right or, in the case of just this article only, simply below for one-off convenience.
To start off with, what is DNSSEC? The Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) is a suite of specifications for securing information provided by the Domain Name System (DNS) as used by the Internet. DNS, in its original form, is inherently insecure and DNSSEC seeks to resolve these vulnerabilities through the use of encryption and other, security-minded methods. That said, it is not easy to setup and requires an IT professional to configure and get working.
GekkoFyre Networks is beginning to receive some requests from its clients as to whether we support DNSSEC or not and the short of it is; no, we do not. Whilst most of our infrastructure might be fully prepared for it along with the wholesaler we use for the domain names that we sell through the main site, it all comes down to a specific feature of which we make use of within cPanel/WHM called ‘DNS Clustering‘. This particular part of cPanel/WHM breaks the chain-of-trust in DNSSEC simply due to the fact that it does not support that area of the IETF specifications, despite outcries from many users. There is an outstanding feature request that calls for the implementation of DNSSEC support within this area of cPanel/WHM and according to what the company has told GekkoFyre Networks recently, they will not be implementing it anytime soon.
We are currently looking at alternative methods of supporting DNSSEC currently and we might’ve found just the ticket, although it will take some weeks and maybe even a month or two to implement. So please, stay tuned!
In other news, DNS Flag Day is coming up fast! On this day the IETF along with software vendors around the world will be rolling out the EDNS specification for all up-to-date domain name servers. Suffice to say, GekkoFyre Networks is 100% compliant and totally committed to meeting February 1st, 2019, with success! For any of our clients whom wish to receive more details when testing their websites and/or DNS servers for compatibility and compliance, you only need to go as far as the Internet Systems Consortium page. You will be greeted with a form where you may enter your website’s details which will then let you know whether you are up to specification or not.
Christmas has been and gone so we hope you all had a wonderful time, whether it was spent with friends and/or family, or even by yourself! Now with New Years festivities coming up fast and even more celebrations at hand, you should make sure to be on the lookout for any great deals at GekkoFyre Networks. We should be offering some sizable bargains around that time provided our Gaming Services are ready to launch by then.
Speaking of now though, we’ve performed major updates to the templates and ISOs that are on offer with our virtual private servers and the following are henceforth available for installation onto your server:
For the next week or so, GekkoFyre Networks will be temporarily suspending its Game Server offerings until we are able to provide a better and more streamlined control panel experience for both new and pre-existing clients. We are teaming up with XenoPanel which, alongside with our already pre-existing Pterodactyl.io offerings, will bring you more game-related server offerings than ever before! This includes servers for such games as:
Pterodactyl.io shares many of the same features as mentioned above also. You can expect all this to arrive near to the date of 25th December, 2018, which is right near Christmas time! It’s our gift to all of you within the furry, otherkin and therian communities in order to celebrate Christmas so that you may have a rockin’ time throughout your holidays!
We may also be changing payment gateway providers soon with regards to Stripe, and making the switch to eWay. Although we offer servers and products in locations found across the globe (whilst accepting payments in USD) and our client-base consists almost entirely of international users, we are a business that is legally registered in Australia with the ABN #76382 705 985. Because of this, we find that partnering with eWay as a preferred payment gateway provider will be easier to do business with over Stripe since they too are headquartered in Australia. That said, we will still be offering PayPal as a payment option as well.
Lastly, we need to mention that we have a public TeamSpeak 3 server that is free-to-use by anyone, worldwide. It simply operates under the GekkoFyre Networks banner and is a simple source of advertising for us but otherwise, the server has an effectively unlimited number of user slots and there is a channel for each type of game server we (will) have on offer. The server can be accessed at the following URL below:
